PSA Posters - Emergency Preparedness - ART 235
I created three public service announcement posters having to do with emergency preparedness. My goal was to create something that isn't scary but would catch a person's eye. The secondary message would give them the encouragement that to start planning doesn't have to be all at once. A little each day (or week/month) can get them going and eventually they will be prepared. The next part is to give them something to start with. Depending on what disaster, brings a different suggestion.

I created the posters with kids in mind. The website shared has a lot of kids activities to do to prepare for anything. Kids are great at seeing something and getting the adults' attention. If the kids are invested in the idea, then they will be enthusiastic about the subject and will bring the adults along.
1. Tsunami
I live in a state where tsunamis can be a reality. Any state/country that borders an ocean will. I gave a suggestion of starting with an evacuation plan because when a tsunami comes, people only have so much time to get out. If they have that plan then they will be prepared to take action.
2. Volcano
Not as many people have a volcano near them, but some places do. To have a way to breathe when there is so much ashes in the air is a good plan.
3. Tornado
Tornados are a reality for most of the midwest states. To start with non perishable foods is something that can save lives when a tornado hits. Preparing a little each time you go shopping will amass a bunch of non perishable foods that will be there when that disaster hits. People won't have to worry about it and can hunker down with that peace of mind.
